Meetings are held on Wednesday evenings at the Warley MRC premises in Oldbury, West Midlands.

With the split of the East Staffs Area Group as mentioned in NL70, this is the first report of the newly-formed Warley Model Railway Club S7 Group, comprising Bob Essery, Ron Pitts, Brian Phillips and myself.

I can now report that on 20 February that we began to erect the main running lines of the Dewsbury layout, which had been in store at the Warley MRC in Oldbury, West Midlands. This has resulted in some new members for the club in the process and an invitation for the layout to attend the 2008 Warley National Model Railway show at the NEC in November. This, I believe, will mark a first for S7 Group with three S7 layouts on display at the NEC show.

As the assembly proceeded it was discovered that some items were missing, namely a couple of pairs of legs and the board through the wall joining the main running lines to the fiddle yard in the shed. We quickly re-drilled the fiddle yard board and connected this to the main layout, although a slight alteration to the trackwork will be required.

The next task on Dewsbury is to get the electrics up and running, as the part that went to Warley was dismantled very quickly and somewhat chaotically given the time constraints allowed. A shopping list was drawn and the items purchased. The main power box now has legs and is free-standing, having been previously wall mounted. The wires from this box which were just cut and labelled, so we have started to fit it with 25-pin plugs.

When we have trains running, then we may need to change the track plan to include a few goods sidings and alter the fiddle yard to accommodate the new trackwork which will fit the extra space that has been allocated to the layout.

We meet Wednesday evenings and are trying to fit some Saturday working sessions in order to get the layout ready for the exhibition.
