Meetings take place monthly, usually at the Model Railway Club’s Keen House, London, but also at members’ houses, on a Sunday afternoon.
We have had two meetings since the last report. At both meetings much discussion took place about our display at the London Festival of Railway Modelling at Alexandra Palace. This exhibition has now taken place—just two days ago as I write this—and David Cooper must be congratulated on the concept and design of the stand, which he also built. The trackwork was built by Rob Thompson, and Eldred Clarke did the wiring-up of the control panel. During the exhibition, Richard Clarke’s Brush Type 4 and BR Type 2 were growling up and down with most realistic sound. Richard Chown’s beautiful diorama The Furnace was also on the stand. In fact, Richard Chown’s layout Allendenac was alongside, and this layout received a lot of admiration.
We also attended the St Albans show in January with three of the baseboards from Croscombe Magna Junction, and we gave a demonstration of scenic work and track ballasting. At one time John Lewsey had three very young visitors helping paint the sides of the rails with rust coloured paint. Hopefully in about 20 years’ time they will become ScaleSeven modellers.
Our next meeting will be on 8th June 2008 at my home.
